In Math, we did more turning fractions into decimals. It's so easy even a caveman could do it!
In Language Arts, we partner edited our special place stories. Partner editing is where you and the person who sits next to you edit each others stories.
In Science we talked about fossils. Fossils are any remains or marks left by an animal or plant. Fossils are made by being buried in sand that turns to rock. Next Wednesday we will be having our Chapter 4 test so we need to study, study, study!
On Thursday, the people who reached their AR goal went to the movie theater and saw "The Voyage of the Dawn Treader". We hope that everybody makes their goal next time so that we can all have a good time.
On Friday we had our Holiday Breakfast. We had a bunch of delicious food. Thank you to all of the parents who sent something in.
This week was amazing!

This week was exceptional!
In Math, we learned how to add and subtract decimals. It's just like adding and subtracting but you put in a decimal. We also learned how to turn fractions into decimals and decimals into fractions. For example, 1/4 = .25.
In Language Arts, we wrote a story about our special place. Before we wrote, we did an organizer. The organizer was called a Five Square. We had to write five paragraphs. The first paragraph was the opening paragraph. Our second paragraph held 3 reasons why we like our place. The 3rd paragraph held another three reasons why we liked that place. The 4th paragraph held yet another 3 reasons why that was our special place. Finally, our 5th paragraph was our conclusion paragraph that brought the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th paragraph together.
In Science, we learned about the changes in the environment. Things that pollute the air are forest fires, gasoline, smog, the exhaust of cars, and ozone. Things that pollute the land are open dumps and litter and acid rain. Things that pollute the water are plastic, trash, oil, and boats.
This week was phenomenal!

This week was super-cool!
In Science, we learned about adaptations for plants and animals. An adaptation is a body part or behavior that helps a plant or animal survive. Adaptations for animals help them meet their basic needs for food, water, shelter, protection, and a place to protect their babies. An animal adaptation is camouflage and blubber. Some plant adaptations are thorns, and waxy coverings to keep water in them. Arctic plants have short stems and roots. They also grow in clumps to keep warm.
In Math, we learned how to do decimals, 10ths, and 100ths. Decimals are numbers under one. For example, four tenths would be written as 0.4 and four hundredths would be written as 0.04. We also did our timed test on our laptops for the first time. We learned about volume too. To get the volume of a cube or rectangular prism you multiply the heigth, width, and length. The volume is how many cubic feet, yards, miles, inches, centimeters, meters, or kilometers are in it.
In Language Arts, we learned to figure out the main idea in a paragraph. The main idea is what the paragraph is about. It could be the first sentence, the last sentence, or unstated. We also recorded our sensory stories in a Voicethread. You can see it down below.
